[ comfort zone ] launches new eco-sustainable sun care line up

Parma based prestige skin care brand [ comfort zone ] has announced today a new range of eco sustainable sun care.

Inspired by [ comfort zone ]’s strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, WATER SOUL introduces three new eco sustainable formulas that have been designed to ensure maximum efficacy, with ultimate respect for the aquatic environment. Adding to the original WATER SOUL line launched in 2018 with the ECO SUN CREAM SPF 30, the new ECO SUN CREAM SPF 50 are fragrance-free, contain chemical filters that are safer for the aquatic environment and a very water-resistant formula to reduce the dispersion of chemicals into the ocean.

Together with the new ECO SHOWER GEL and ALOE GEL, all product packaging is made entirely of recycled plastic with sugar cane derived plastic for the tubes, which are completely CO2 compensated by the company through a reforestation initiative in Ethiopia.

Developed by [ comfort zone ]’s internal R&D lab, the products are free from animal derivatives, silicones, parabens and artificial colorants. All products are produced at the Davines Village in Parma, Italy, the carbon-neutral headquarters of the B Corporation certified group.

According to a [ comfort zone ] spokesperson: “The use of sunscreen to protect the health of the skin is a well-established habit for most people, but it is only recently that we have become aware of the impact that sun filters have on the environment. Although the use of these chemical and physical filters are key in protecting the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays, the potential negative impact they have on coral reefs has been closely studied since 2017.”

Over the past 30 years, almost 30% of coral reefs have been irretrievably lost and it has been observed that corals, an ideal habitat and food resource for various animal and plant species, are subject to a phenomenon of progressive whitening with the consequence of reproductive incapacity. The root cause - overheating of the oceans, means that instead of feeding on the usual carbohydrates, algae present on the corals begin to produce toxic substances, and consequently, the coral expels them and loses its color, becoming white. This phenomenon, known as coral bleaching, is further exacerbated by the excessive accumulation of solar filters in the water. It is estimated that between 4,000 and 6,000 tons of sunscreen are released every year in the areas of tropical coral reefs.”

[ comfort zone ] has also released a series of limited edition Discovery and Must Have kits. This year’s new limited edition Discovery Collection are ideal for weekenders, travellers, and vacationers. The 4-step kits are also the perfect at-home companion for first-time [ comfort zone ] users to experience a selection of best sellers.

Available in convenient, portable sizes, the new collection has five unique regimens, each designed for specific skin needs including dehydrated, mature, and sensitive skins, as well as a kit for relaxation and a special additional ‘Must-Haves’ kit featuring the brands most-loved products. Each selection features a complete regimen, enough for one or two weeks of use.
