First salt-themed spa debuts in Mauritius

New hotel brand Salt has opened its first property, The Salt of Palmar in Mauritius, complete with the Salt Equilibrium spa.

The spa offers a salt room, five treatment rooms and salt-based treatments designed to energise, relax, detoxify and rejuvenate.

The spa’s philosophy is simple and salt plays a big part in it. Different salts are used to bring different benefits. For example in the halotherapy salt room, salt vapour is used to boost the respiratory system, skin, immunity and energy levels.

Additional wellness activities include a Sunrise Run Club, sunrise salutations on the beach, meditation at Brahmakumari and yoga at the Salt Farm Shala.

The 59-bedroom hotel, created by Mauritian architect Jean-François Adam of JFA Architects and French artist Camille Walala, claims to offer travellers access to the ‘real, unvarnished Mauritius’. The Salt brand is openly committed to taking guests to people – not just places – and unearthing a real sense of what their travel destination has to offer.

Salt guests have the opportunity to bond with locals via the brand’s Skill Swap programme, exchanging their time and talent with local producers, designers and artisans such as fisherman, potters, basket weavers and more.
