Spas looking for an innovative way to mark Valentine’s Day might consider taking a leaf out of Mars Wrigley Confectionary’s book.
The global confectioner is opening a pop-up spa in New York on 13th and 14th February, offering free entirely sweets-based makeovers. The company, which sells brands such as M&M’s, Skittles and Starburst, is opening up the Manhattan spa for just two days, to allow New Yorkers to indulge their sweethearts with a series of spa treatments inspired by its products.
The Sweet ReTreat will feature sweet, chocolate, gum and mint-themed TREATments and will, according to a statement, indulge the senses – not just the palate – with services ranging from signature manicures and pedicures to blow-drys, style touch-ups and a make-up counter.
The make-up bar will feature chocolate-themed shades inspired by M&M’s, Twix and Snickers, a mani-pedi station will offer candy shell polishes akin to Skittles and Starburst colours, and the Snickers pedicure will include a bar to munch on while feet are scrubbed.
“Our beloved treats play a unique role in consumers’ lives, and we wanted to do something in tribute to our fans this Valentine’s Day,” says Berta De Pablos-Barbier, president of Mars Wrigley Confectionery US. “You don’t need a manicure every day, but it’s a nice way to treat yourself and we look at our products the same way; a treat to indulge in from time to time.”
