Health and wellness facilities in South Gloucestershire are set to improve with the redevelopment of Longwell Green Leisure Centre
The extension, designed by Studio Four Architects, will enhance the current building in line with its original features. The existing 282 sq m fitness suite centre will increase in size by 107 sq m and will gain from the installation of new pieces of Technogym equipment. A 137 sq m studio will be created for group fitness classes.
The changing village serving the 25-metre and learner pools will benefit from a new entrance to the poolside, along with new wet and dry changing rooms plus toilet provisions for disabled visitors. New dry male and female changing rooms will also be delivered.
Councillor Heather Goddard, Chair of South Gloucestershire Communities Committee, said: “We all need to get moving to stay fit, healthy and well. That’s why South Gloucestershire is investing in its leisure centres to make sure we have attractive, state-of-the-art facilities.
“The families, individuals and sports-club users, as well as the wider community, will benefit from improved facilities and, although there will be some disruption during the work, the centre will stay open throughout.”
