Aghadoe teams up with local palliative care service

The Spa at Aghadoe Heights Hotel has teamed up with Kerry specialist palliative care service, the Kerry Hospice Foundation.

In supporting the local charity, the spa has pledged a new focus. The team will be working closely with Director of Nursing, Mari O’Connell and Clinical Nurse Manager, Eimear Hallissey to raise awareness and financial support for the organisation.

A team of three therapists from the spa have undergone specialised training in the care of those undergoing cancer treatment with reflexology expert, Claire O’Grady. The team has already had extensive training in this area and successfully completed Christine Clinton’s Cancer Care course, as well as Massage for People Living with Cancer, which was conducted by Gayle McDonald.

The Spa at Aghadoe will now offer three complimentary reflexology treatments at the start of each month to people the Kerry Hospice Foundation deem most in need.

Yvette Ryan, a therapist at Aghadoe Heights since 2005, says: “Medical treatment is exhausting on both the mind and the body. To know that we can assist in alleviating some of the negative impact is a wonderful feeling. It is important that we highlight these services and that those that require our assistance can seek solace in the tranquillity of an environment focussed on personal wellness and mental wellbeing.”
