Arctic hotel spa planned for Swedish Lapland

Arctic hotel spa planned for Swedish Lapland

Free-floating luxury hotel and spa set to open in the middle of Sweden’s Lule River.

Inspired by the seven-room Scandinavian forest hideaway, Treehotel, (www.theaurorazone.com) a floating, open-air cold bath called Arctic Bath is planned for the small village of Harads, in Sweden.

Situated on the Lule River, a short distance from the Arctic Circle, the Arctic Bath will be a year-round attraction, offering summertime free-floating and wintertime activities. These will include cold baths, different water events, several saunas and spa treatments.

The all-year structure won’t be built on land, but water, and will ebb or fix with the season.

The project is run by Arctic Bath AB. Architecture and design will be by Bertil Harström and Johan Kauppi, Sweden.

Initial architectural renderings feature a circular, intimate spa with the center of the spa floor cut away in a ring giving room for the central cold bath, which is open and roofless.

Saunas, treatment rooms, relaxations spaces, and a bar will take up the rooms surrounding the cold bath.

Scheduled to open in 2018.                         http://www.arcticbath.se/
