Armathwaite Hall supports conservation in the wild with £4k donation to Red Panda Network

Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa, located in the Northern Lake District, alongside the Lake District Wildlife Park, has donated £4,000 ($5,500) to the Red Panda Network as part of its campaign to support conservation of endangered animals worldwide.

The funds were provided as an alternative to the hotel purchasing gifts for its guests over the Christmas 2021 period, which has become a regular tradition. The hotel’s guests were fully in favour of this move forward in sustainability and supporting a worthy cause rather than receiving a gift for themselves.

Founded in 2007, the Red Panda Network is committed to the conservation of wild red pandas and preservation of their habitat for future generations by empowerment of local communities through research, education and sustainable development.

The fundraising took place at Armathwaite Hall over the Christmas period with £2,000 donated by hotel guests. The Lake District Wildlife Park, located on the grounds of the hotel, then matched this donation amount for the charity.

Terrance Fleming, Development Manager at Red Panda Network says, “the support allows us to continue to make great strides toward raising awareness of red panda throughout the world and catalyse action towards their conservation.”

World leader in red panda conservation, the Red Panda Network has a vision to ensure the survival of wild red pandas and preserve their natural habitat. The long-standing charity, based in Nepal, has a conservation program extending to over one million acres of forest and 50% of Nepal’s red panda range. Working with community partners in 10 out of 23 of the red panda range districts in Nepal, the charity also proudly works with over 75 Community Forest User Groups in adopting sustainable forest management practices.

Carolyn Graves, Director at Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa and the Lake District Wildlife Park, says “We are delighted to be able to support the brilliant Red Panda Network and the amazing animals the charity helps. Working with the Lake District Wildlife Park has grown our love for all of our furry friends, and showed the importance of conservation efforts globally. A huge thank you to all of our hotel guests over Christmas 2021 who supported us.”
