Aztec Hotel and Spa in Bristol, part of the Daniel Thwaites Spa Group, is proud to announce it will be working alongside Amethyst Trust to create inclusive treatments for those touched by cancer.
Collaborating with its product brand Caudalie, the spa will be able to deliver specialist treatments for people with cancer and other life limiting conditions. The treatments are available from October 2022, to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month.
People living with cancer need tailored treatments and are advised to avoid deep tissue massage. Cancer therapies can lead to weakened bones and circulation, so specialist advice is needed to ensure all those having touch therapy are in trained hands. Amethyst is a charitable trust established to meet the needs of the public who have had treatment for cancer and are seeking massage, relaxation and pampering therapies. Working the Amethyst Trust, The Aztec Hotel and Spa therapists have been trained to provide professional massage therapy safely, to ensure wellness is delivered when it is most needed and so guests can relax knowing they are in expert hands.
Gemma Barratt, Group Spa Director at Daniel Thwaites explains; “We believe spa should be inclusive for all, so wanted to work with a trust that could help us create treatments that were safe for those touched by cancer and other life limiting conditions.”

Amethyst Trust Training was established in 2010 to meet the needs of people who have experienced cancer and are seeking treatments in spas and salons throughout the UK. The Amethyst Trust Training has its Standards Authority for Touch in Cancer Care (SATCC) accreditation, which is given to spas that are qualified and trained in cancer care therapies. By raising the industry standards, the consumer can be confident in the skills of all Amethyst Trust qualified practitioners and all other practitioners who display the SATCC logo.
