Cornish salt steam room – a world first

Cornish hotel, St Michaels Falmouth, has unveiled its expansive new spa after a multi-million pound investment.

The destination resort and spa, which overlooks Gyllyngvase beach, features 10 treatment rooms, the largest hydrotherapy pool in southwest England, a rainforest steam room and a world first – a Cornish salt steam room.

A substantial part of owner BH Hotels’ investment was spent on developing the spa, which also  includes a Finnish herbal sauna, a Moroccan Rasul, a sundeck with red cedar hot tub and barrel sauna, and experience showers, including an Ice Bucket Challenge.

The extensive menu offers more than 60 treatments from brands including Elemis, Made for Life Organics, The Natural Spa Factory, Ishga, OPI and Natura Bissé. The spa is equipped with Gharieni massage tables.

St Michaels chairman, Nigel Carpenter, says: “This substantial investment has transformed St Michaels into one of the UK’s leading wellness resorts. Featuring a world-class spa and state-of-the-art health and fitness facilities all within the same site, it is exceptional by virtue of its complementary offering.”
