First South American project for Six Senses

First South American project for Six Senses

Brazilian spa in the pipeline for global resort chain.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has revealed plans to branch out into South American for the first time. Six Senses Formosa Bay, located at Baia Formosa in Brazil, will be in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the most eastern territory of Brazil and the country’s closest point to Europe.

The site, which is a part of the Eco Estrela Project, will feature almost 4.5 miles of Atlantic Ocean beachfront and cover 6,350 acres. It was home to a former coconut plantation and the area has prolific mangroves, through which guests will be able to navigate by boat.

Six Senses Spa Formosa Bay will include single and double treatment rooms, steam, sauna and a hammam. In addition to the menu of Six Senses specialty treatments, several renowned Brazilian therapies will be offered together with Six Senses Integrated Wellness, which is based on the preventative principals of Eastern medicine combined with result-oriented Western influences.

The resort has earmarked an area to establish an organic farm, which together with local farmers and the fishing community will provide much of the produce used in the kitchens and spa.

Six Senses Formosa Bay is due to open in 2021.
