The GWS announces new advisory board members and this year’s keynotes

The Global Wellness Summit has announced the appointment of three new members to its advisory board. The team’s focus is guiding the Summit in its mission to serve the 10 sectors that make up the $3.7 trillion global wellness industry.

The advisors are Omer K. Isvan, president of Turkey-based Servotel Corporation, Tony de Leede, the owner and founder of Australia’s Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat and Yoriko Soma, president and CEO of Japan-based Conceptasia.

Susie Ellis, chair of the Global Wellness Summit, says: ‘I’m thrilled to welcome our new board members – all of whom bring powerful expertise and a crucial regional perspective on the sectors that make up the global wellness industry.’

President of Servotel Corporation, Isvan is also adviser in the investment and development of hotels, resorts and mixed-use developments worldwide. His career spans 30 years, and he’s worked on projects in more than 40 countries. ‘I look forward to working closely with members of this pioneering board, and bringing my experience of integrating wellness into travel, hospitality and real estate development to the GWS,’ he says.

Tony de Leede, who built Australia’s Fitness First health club chain, is also owner of surf wellness brand Komune. He says: ‘Having been involved in the fitness business for nearly 40 years and more directly in the wellness/spa business for the last 12, I hope to bring a fresh perspective on how the two industries are becoming more intertwined.’

Soma, who has participated in multiple resort, destination and day spa projects in Asia now runs a major investment fund for Asian spa and wellness businesses. ‘The wellness market in Asia is the fastest-growing globally, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Summit’s advisory board to provide guidance and insight on the Pan-Asian and Japanese wellness industries,’ she says.

This year’s GWS, held at The Breakers Palm Beach from 9th to 11th October, will feature Well+Good's founders, Alexia Brue and Melisse Gelula as keynotes. Well+ Good is a media company dedicated to the US wellness scene, which produces a highly anticipated annual trends forecasts.

They will present on how millennials (the most wellness-obsessed generation to date) are shaking up the wellness travel market. Unveiling results from a survey detailing how their community of seven million millennial women travel, they will analyse the very different things millennials want in their getaways compared with boomers.

They will connect the dots between millennials’ wellness and travel spending behaviours and how hospitality brands offering wellness programming can start benefiting from them.
