Inaugural Spa Life Ireland exceeds expectations

Inaugural Spa Life Ireland exceeds expectations

Over 130 delegates met in Naas, County Kildare to network and learn at Spa Life Ireland

Hot on the heels of its successful second year in Germany, the first Spa Life Ireland event took place at the Osprey Hotel and Spa at the end of last month.

Twenty-seven different spas and 22 suppliers met to take part in the event, which offers a unique blend of one-to-one speed dates, educational seminars and networking opportunities.

Keynote speaker Frank Dick OBE, said ‘Health and wellness is a very big agenda right now and spas are perfectly placed to help; spas aren’t just about making us look better, they’re also about the enhancement of our quality of life in terms of health and wellbeing. For the most part I don’t think the spa industry has grasped just how big a role they can – and should – have in all of that, and events like Spa Life Ireland are crucial to making spas all they can be.’

Other speakers included the ‘Tweeting Goddess’ Samantha Kelly, Valerie Delforge of Delforge and Co and Shauna O’Halloran, the editor of Irish Tatler.

A measure of the events’ success, it scored 84% in the customer loyalty metric, the Net Promoter Score (NPS). The NPS asks customers a single question on a 0 to 10 scale: ‘How likely is it that you would recommend our event to a friend or colleague?’ Based on responses, customers are categorized as Promoters (9-10 rating), Passives (7-8 rating) and Detractors (0-6 rating). The percentage of Detractors is subtracted from Promoters to obtain a Net Promoter score, with anything above 75% considered exceptionally high.

Spa Life Director, Andrew Hammond, says: ‘To say we are pleased with how the Spa Life concept has been received in Ireland would be a huge understatement. It is clear there is a genuine demand for management education and peer-level networking in this market and following Spa Life Ireland, many new alliances have been formed, which we are sure will facilitate this. We have also received multiple requests for on-going research to further support the growth and development of the sector and we will continue to liaise with all parties to help realise these ambitions wherever possible.’

Spas Life UK takes places at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole from 14-15 November.
