ISPA launches workforce study

ISPA’s first research-driven study is aimed at analysing the recruitment, retention and engagement of spa professionals

The International Spa Association (ISPA) announced the launch of a ground-breaking spa workforce study at the 2017 ISPA Conference in Las Vegas, USA earlier this month.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been commissioned to conduct the study and results will be released in the first quarter of 2018.

ISPA president, Lynne McNees, says: ‘This workforce study will provide valuable insight into what motivates and influences employees within the spa industry. Assisting spas in filling vacancies and nurturing future professionals is a top priority for us.’

According to the 2017 US Spa Industry Study there are currently around 33,00 vacancies in the American spa sector and, of these, just over half (18,780) were for massage therapists.

ISPA members can participate by visiting www.spaworkforcesurvey.com. The survey ends on November 28.
