Macdonald Hotels signs ‘first of its kind’ brand partnership

Macdonald Hotels signs ‘first of its kind’ brand partnership

UK’s largest independent hotel group has signed a revolutionary three-year deal with Elemis

The brand partnership will enable the companies to achieve an elevated level of shared customer service and quality, as well as to address important industry recruitment challenges.

Macdonald Hotels has implemented a tailor-made careers programme, which has been constructed in co-operation with the Elemis Academy of Excellence. All Macdonald spa staff will undergo extensive training from both companies, which will cover everything from therapy training, retail skills and marketing to operational courses and management proficiencies.

The Career Development initiative aims to inspire and encourage therapists across the two companies to tap into structured support and fulfil their career aspirations.

In addition, Macdonald Hotels therapists have collaborated with Elemis to develop a unique new treatment menu, reflecting the demands of its spa guests. The new Macdonald signature treatment – Ultimate Wellness Face and Body Treatment – incorporates cutting-edge technology to deliver scientifically-proven results.

Harrison Gregory, UK Head of Spa and Salon at Elemis, says: ‘Elemis has worked closely with Macdonald Hotels and Resorts to create a working relationship which goes well beyond that of simply product house and operator. The initiatives put in place specifically address key operational and customer service issues; we expect the future to be an exciting and rewarding time for both brands.’

Keith Pickard, Group Director of Golf, Leisure and Spa at Macdonald, adds: ‘We see this as a major step forward for the industry. With these initiatives put in place, I see this as a very exciting time for the whole spa industry at large.’

Recognising recruitment as a constant major challenge for the spa industry, Macdonald has also embarked on a new initiative with Elemis and recruitment company, Arecibo Beauty, a new division created by Arecibo People, talent finders to the hospitality industry. The aim is to bridge the gap between education and employment, offering people the opportunity to improve their skill sets to meet the higher standards required by the spa industry.
