The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will open a new property in London’s Hanover Square in 2021.

The boutique 50-room hotel and spa will be owned by Mayfair-based property developer Clivedale London and will also include 80 exclusive Residences at Mandarin Oriental on the top floors.

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, will include an indoor pool, fitness centre and spa as well as a rooftop terrace. Architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners will create the new space.

James Riley, group chief executive of Mandarin Oriental, says: “We are delighted to be opening a second Mandarin Oriental property in London, and look forward to extending the group’s legendary hospitality to another of the city’s most exclusive addresses.”

Meanwhile, Mandarin Oriental’s existing London Hotel, in Hyde Park, has expanded its fitness offer, collaborating with personal trainer Hollie Grant, founder of West London’s Pilates PT fitness studio. She will offer her trademark Model Method sessions, which combine HIIT (high intensity interval training) with reformer Pilates, as well as traditional one-to-one PT and Pilates sessions.

The group’s spas have also announced a new treatment to celebrate Chinese New Year, which begins on 16 February 2018. The Earth Dog year is said to be one of action, requiring planning and energy. The Year of the Earth Dog Spa Experience is designed to ground and relax guests while rebalancing energy for both body and mind, using the group’s bespoke Flourish Oil. It will be available year-round in the group’s spas globally.

Mandarin Oriental currently operates 31 hotels and eight residences in 21 countries worldwide.
