Opening spa doors for cancer sufferers

Opening spa doors for cancer sufferers

Wellbeing brand Made for Life by Spezia has gained accreditation for Cancer Touch Therapy training, to help ensure spa therapists are qualified to give treatments to people going through cancer.

The fully accredited three-day Cancer Touch Therapy training course was developed with advice from trained oncology massage teachers, advisors within the oncology team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and Macmillan. Marc Innes, MISRM, MCMA and Founder of the School of Natural Therapies, is the course lead trainer and gained accreditation for the course from the Complementary Medical Association (CMA).

Amanda Barlow, MD of Spiezia Organics and Founder of the Made for Life Foundation, says: ‘We believe that all spas should be 100% accessible. This CMA-accredited Cancer Touch Therapy training course enables spas, managers and therapists to confidently open their doors to anyone going through cancer and provide much-needed support.’

Spiezia Organics funded the development of the course and all profits will go directly into the Made for Life Foundation. The charity provides an integrative programme for people diagnosed and recovering from cancer. More than 10,000 people across the UK have attended Made for Life days since its inception.

The course has already been implemented at the Royal Crescent in Bath.
