Recycling provider FreeCollections has launched a free recycling service, created to help spas and beauty businesses meet their sustainability targets.
The glass waste collection service is aimed especially at spas and salons that are struggling to improve their green credentials due to the associated administrative and financial burdens – recycling rates for businesses in the UK currently sit at only 43 per cent.
The scheme aims to encourage spas and salons to think carefully about helping the environment and reduce the amount of glass waste in the UK.
Mark Hall, communications director for FreeCollections, says: “As a nation we are still way behind when it comes to recycling; reducing un-recycled business waste is a crucial aspect of tackling the problem. Many businesses are still putting glass into their general waste bin – some don’t think they have the time to take glass to a suitable recycling centre and many are put off by the cost of having waste glass collected.
“We’re removing those barriers to offer businesses in the UK the opportunity to have free recycling collections. We hope that this will push recycling rates up dramatically and make England a shining example of recycling excellence.”
