Revealed: average time spent on mundane task by British population.

Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat, located in Staffordshire which was recently voted the county’s ‘Experience of the Year’, has conducted research with findings showing that the average Brit spends a staggering 1,723 minutes doing mundane tasks which includes making the bed, scrolling on their phone, cooking and washing up.

In response to this, Moddershall Oaks has launched its Escape the Everyday campaign encouraging guests to reclaim this time and instead enjoy a wellbeing UK staycation where those mundane tasks can be put on hold and has created specific experiences for this purpose.

Escape Making the bed - perhaps one of the most mundane tasks, changing the beds and towels can feel like an easy task yet always takes longer than anticipated in the moment. Moddershall Oaks’ found 50 minutes per week were spent making and changing the beds and towels.

This is 50 minutes that could instead be spent enjoying a relaxing spa treatment such as the Tribal Ablution, a pink Himalayan salt exfoliation, or the Glass Beauty Facial, an expert facial and exfoliating massage to promote a youthful appearance.

While enjoying a spa treatment, guests can lie back in the comfort of knowing that their luxurious room offers a freshly made bed to invite a deep relaxing sleep.

Escape Screen time -
shockingly we spend 1,260 minutes per week mindlessly scrolling on our phone, whether this is on social media apps, online shopping or reading the latest news from our favourite e-zines.

Guests are invited to switch off in the no-phone zone in Moddershall Oaks’ Sleep Lounge, a chance to disconnect from the outside world and enjoy a moment of shut eye. A tranquil space for calm and quiet, guests can feel the stresses of daily life leave their body as they succumb to the comfortable loungers and seating areas, in the beautifully dimmed surroundings.

Escape Cooking - spending time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes and ingredients can be fun and rewarding, especially if it ends up tasting delicious! However with 253 minutes per week spent cooking, and a further 98 minutes per week washing up, sometimes it’s appreciated to sit back and enjoy a dining experience where you don’t need to lift a finger.

Moddershall Oaks’ new The Oak House Balcony Bar & Restaurant provides guests with a relaxed dining atmosphere filled with appetizing cuisine and casual drinks, with menus tailored towards all dietary requirements.

Escape the Commute

- for the average Brit working a standard Monday-Friday working week, 62 minutes per day is spent commuting to work. But for Londoners they bear the brunt of this with the longest commute time in the country at 74 minutes.

Imagine a retreat where everything is on your doorstep, say hello to Moddershall Oaks. The intimate spa retreat offers guests a chance to say no to the long commute with everything located within an arm’s reach.

Penny Weston, Director at Moddershall Oaks, says “Throughout the years, we’ve always wanted Moddershall Oaks to be a place of escape for our guests. Especially being located in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, it’s a true hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We pride ourselves on having great feedback from our guests who appreciate being able to switch off from everyday life. This research just goes to show how important it is to step away from our daily lives and take time out from mundane tasks to enjoy a bit of self-care.”

Moddershall Oaks’ Escape the Everyday packages start from £130 per person for a spa day and £187.50 per person for spa break. They are ideal for a romantic escape, an evening escape after a stressful day at work or a relaxing day with friends escaping the hustle and bustle of family life.
