Award-winning spa is the latest to offer Touch Therapy treatments
Seaham Hall’s Serenity Spa in Durham has become the latest UK venue to offer treatments specifically designed for people undergoing treatment for cancer.
To mark the launch, Serenity Spa opened its doors to 20 people who have recently undergone cancer treatment, to allow them to experience total relaxation in a safe environment
Created by Made for Life by Spiezia Organics, Cancer Touch Therapy is the first of its kind to be fully accredited by the Complementary Therapy Association. The course enables any spa to offer treatments to undergoing treatment for cancer. All profits from the training courses are going to Spezia’s charity, the Made For Life Foundation, which supports people going through cancer.
‘I’m really delighted with the training we have received,’ says Serenity’s spa manager Davina Hassell. ‘We feel confident we are now able to open our spa doors to all our guests and have already been overwhelmed by the response from some people who are going through cancer, who have previously been turned away from other spas.
‘There was one recent incident where two sisters arrived at our spa, one of whom was undergoing treatment for cancer. She hadn’t even bothered to book a treatment because she had been turned away every single time she’d tried to book since her diagnosis. When I told her that she was welcome and that we could offer her a treatment, she simply burst into tears, and so did her sister. That means so much to us here at Seaham Hall and we would very much like to spread the word to others who could benefit from these new treatments.’
