Soothe names new CEO

On-demand massage provider, Soothe, has named Simon Heyrick as its new CEO.

Heyrick, who has been CFO at Soothe since July 2016, was previously CFO of marketing analytics company MarketShare. He replaces Soothe’s founder Merlin Kauffman, who has moved to be executive chair of the board of directors and will be responsible for all day-to-day operations.

Soothe has also raised £23m in funding, led by The Riverside Company, to allow it to continue to pay its therapists a premium salary, innovate its technology and hire more talent.

Soothe is the world’s largest on-demand massage service. Launched in 2013, it is now in more than 50 major cities across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Kauffman says: “As an experienced senior executive, Simon has earned a reputation for developing strategic solutions that have helped businesses grow. Seeing him in action for the past two years, I’m thrilled to welcome Simon as the new CEO of Soothe.

“As we approach 11,000 massage therapists with a newly secured round of financing, I’m confident this is the moment to find a new CEO to lead us into the next stage of growth.”

Soothe offers four massage options seven days a week, 8am to midnight – deep tissue, Swedish, sports and prenatal – and allows customers to book a customised massage experience to meet their wellness and relaxation needs. It is funded by The Riverside Company with participation from prominent angel investors and has recently expanded with new locations in Manchester, UK, Australia’s Gold Coast, and the US.
