Spa Business Education announces new collaboration

Spa management training company reveals tie-up with FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Austria

Spa Business Education, part of global spa consultancy Raison d'Etre, has announced a first-of-its-kind collaboration with an Austrian university.

The partnership brings together the vocational Spa Management Online Programme created by Spa Business Education in 2013 with the MBA in International Hospitality and Spa Management one of Austria's leading academic institutions, FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences.

The new association will enable students to combine the two spa management programmes. It is hoped the link up will help spa professionals achieve their maximum potential through an integrated, market-orientated educational programme specifically created for the wellness, spa and hospitality industry.

The part-time Spa Management online diploma was created by top industry experts with solid operational experience. It includes 140 hours of course material and covers everything from leadership, marketing and PR to HR and finance. FH Joanneum offers a part-time postgraduate MBA course in International Hospitality and Spa Management, which focuses on day-to-day spa management as well as looking at strategic management for long-term planning. Lectures are held in two weekly blocks to make it compatible with those in full-time work and so that participants already working in the industry can immediately put into practice what they’ve learned.

Spa Business Education’s Diploma will now be accredited and recognised by FH Joanneum, meaning SBE graduates who then want to continue their studies by taking the MBA Spa Management course, will be exempt from taking the Spa Management module at university.

Nikos Kouremenos, Education and Project Manager at Raison d'Etre, says: ‘We are thrilled to announce this collaboration, which brings together a leading academic institution and a professional and educational organisation: a first in the industry.’

‘Us teaming up with Spa Business Education gives those looking for a successful career in the spa industry several options to enhance their prospects and reach the top of their profession,’ says Daniel Binder, Head of the Degree Programme at FH Joanneum. ‘Combining essential input and insights from leading industry experts with an academic programme will be invaluable in shaping future leaders within the spa industry.’
