The Wattura Resort & Spa opens in Negombo next month. It is the country’s first wellness and family boutique resort.
The Wattura Spa, located at the heart of the 27-villa property, spans 3,000 sq ft and features three treatment rooms, herbal baths and relaxation rooms surrounded by a private lotus pool.
Wattura means water in Sinhalese and the resort has been conceived as a tribute to Sri Lankan culture and its strong associations with water. The spa has been designed to offer guests a layered wellness experience. The spa journey begins with a foot bath and exfoliating treatments before moving to a private relaxation area featuring an aqua therapy waterfall, multi temperature aqua pools, fish ponds, a steam room and day beds placed within typical Sri Lankan gardens. Treatments use local ingredients including river mud, blue lotus and Ayurvedic spices.
The spa is complemented by an outdoor pool that’s an iconic resemblance of the Twin Ponds concept from medieval Anuradhapura. A 20ft waterfall plunges into the spa and one end of the pool.
