Thermae Bath Spa Opens state-of-the-art Wellness Suite

Thermae Bath Spa Opens state-of-the-art Wellness Suite

Just across the road from The Gainsborough Bath Spa, the new Wellness Suite at the Thermae Bath Spa opened on 29th March.

Following investment from YTL, which owns The Gainsborough, the Wellness Suite comprises two Roman and Georgian-themed aromatic steam rooms, an infrared sauna, an ice chamber, chromotherapy showers and a celestial relaxation room. The refurbishment was undertaken by Dale Sauna.

Colin Skellett, Chairman of Thermae Bath Spa, says: ‘Thermae Bath Spa has been open for more than 10 years and it was time to reinvest in the facilities. The Wellness Suite has involved a significant investment – the largest that has been made in a decade in fact. The new Suite really strengthens our offering.’

The infrared sauna is the largest facility in the Suite, completed by a fanned wooden sculpture, designed to mimic the contours of Bath’s thermal waters. The two steam rooms take inspiration from the history of Bath. The Georgian steam room will be light-filled and elegant, as befitting a genteel Georgian design. In contrast, the Roman steam room has a bold design, drawing heavily on local Roman architecture. This room features fluted Roman columns and an Italian crafted mosaic of the image of Sulis Minerva, courtesy of Heritage Services of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

A spa session at Thermae Bath Spa includes full use of the Wellness Suite and bathing in the natural thermal waters of the indoor Minerva Bath and the open-air rooftop pool. Across the road is the 99-room five-star Gainsborough Bath Spa, the UK’s first and only hotel to have exclusive access to the natural thermal waters.
