Titanic Spa announces ‘Spa for Our Planet’ Campaign with Born Free

Titanic Spa, the UK’s first eco-spa located in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, has announced the next animal in their ‘Spa for Our Planet’ campaign, with the launch of the ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ spa break for February 2022. Titanic Spa’s ‘Spa for Our Planet’ is a year-long campaign that is dedicated to supporting the conservation of wildlife and building a better future for our planet, in collaboration with the Born Free Foundation.

The third phase of the ‘Spa for our planet’ campaign builds on Titanic Spa’s promise to give back and take action when it comes to protecting wildlife and creating a more sustainable planet. 2022 sees the focus shift to the Moon Bear population, which is both at risk of extinction and suffers from extreme exploitation. Each of the ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ packages will include a Moon Bear adoption pack from the Born Free Foundation, as well as an Eco-Luxe overnight spa break at the award-winning Titanic Spa. The Moon Bear package will be available for three months.

The ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ package launches in February 2022 and the focus is on the highly intelligent Moon Bear. The bears are at risk of extinction due to loss of habitat through deforestation and although they have an overall population of around 25,000 across Asia, unfortunately it is estimated around 10,000 of those are in captivity in appalling circumstances in China and Vietnam. Bear bile is an ingredient in some traditional medicines, and it is extracted from living Moon Bears. This cruel practice sees bears taken from their homes in the wild and results in untold suffering.

By purchasing the ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ Spa Break, guests will be supporting Born Free’s work with Animals Asia and sanctuary for rescued bears in Vietnam, which includes educating people to help put an end the brutal practice of bear farming. It is also their mission to rescue hundreds of bears; at the Animals Asia sanctuary in Vietnam rescued bears receive expert veterinary treatment, enjoy nutritious food, lush natural foliage, and the opportunity to swim in cool water. Sadly, these bears cannot be returned to the wild, but at the sanctuary they are treated with the compassion they deserve.

On the launch of the package, Warrick Burton, Director at Titanic Spa says, “With World Bear Day on the 23rd March, a celebration dedicated to the rescue and protection of bears around the world, we wanted to support the Moon Bears for the next phase of our Spa For Our Planet Campaign. We know that ending the exploitation of these beautiful and intelligent creatures will be something close to our customers hearts and we hope that our guests, both old and new, will join us in this mission to build a better future.”

The ‘Rescue and Care for Moon Bears’ package costs from £195 per person and includes:
• Accommodation and continental breakfast in luxury serviced apartment
• 1 course light lunch
• 2 course evening meal
• Access to the Heat & Ice Spa experience
• Exclusive access to Bar 1911
• Access to the Leisure Club and the Relaxation Lounge
• Born Free Adoption Pack
• Complimentary use of robes, towels and slippers

With eco-credentials like no other, Titanic Spa has led the way when it comes to green initiatives in the spa industry, yet, with an ever-changing world the spa knows that we as a nation can do so much more.
