UKSA honours Made for Life Organics founder Amanda Winwood with Certificate of Outstanding Contribution

The UK Spa Association (UKSA) has awarded the founder of Made For Life Organics Amanda Winwood with the UKSA Certificate of Outstanding Contribution.

The prestigious award, which is presented at the discretion of the UKSA’s Senior Leadership Team, was announced at their sell out Spring Networking Event, held at Carden Park in Cheshire on 4th March. The award is designed to recognise individuals who have achieved something remarkable within the UK spa industry.

In 2001, Winwood founded Made For Life Organics - an organic, cruelty-free, nurturing collection of face, body and wellbeing products hand blended in Cornwall from organic herbs and flowers. It is understood to be the first skincare range in the UK to achieve 100% organic accreditation across the whole range, as well as recently becoming the first British spa brand to achieve B Corp certification.

Winwood also works closely with people touched by cancer, through her accredited Cancer Touch Therapy training course and charity – called Made for Life Foundation.

Winwood’s foundation supports the families and partners of those affected by cancer, holding regular events and providing support through presentations, advice and introducing mindfulness and visualisation.

UKSA chair Adam Chatterley commented; “One in two people will suffer from cancer and I don’t have to explain that everyone will have been affected in some way, or by knowing or supporting someone. Our industry has faced issues in treating guests touched by cancer, but Amanda is one of those very special individuals who has supported us in opening our doors to these guests.”

Amanda comments on the award; “It was such an honour, and in truth, a complete shock, to be given the Outstanding Achievement award.”

“It’s been an absolute privilege to be part of the implementation of making a fundamental change to the spa industry and to help spas and therapists feel empowered to welcome anyone living with cancer into their treatment room with confidence,” she concluded.

Emma Jane North, spa director of Y Spa at Wyboston Lakes, was also honoured with an outstanding contribution award by the UKSA. Commenting on her win Emma said; “I feel very honoured to be recognised by the industry and be awarded the UKSA Certificate of Outstanding Contribution.”

“I have always shared my passion for our industry both in the teams I work with and the wider spa community and love inspiring the next generation of spa professionals”.
