UKSA names new Chair.

UKSA names new Chair.

Lisa Barden has been named as the new chair of the UK Spa Association (UKSA).

After six years as the Founding Chairman, Charlie Thompson is stepping down from the trade body to focus on his franchise business The Massage Company. Barden has been Vice-Chair since 2017, and previously General Manager, so holds a wealth of experience to continue to grow membership. She will assume the role in March.

Thompson says: “I honestly was not sure if our industry wanted a central trade body when we started in 2013, but felt passionately that we needed to come together and grow our whole industry. If we did that, we would all benefit. We are set to enter a new phase of growth and I am so excited to see what Lisa and the Association will do for us all.”

The not-for-profit UKSA was founded in 2013 in response to a clear industry desire for an impartial and proactive body to represent and promote the spa industry as a valuable contributor both economically and as an essential public health and wellness service within the UK. The ultimate vision is “More People In Spas, More Often”.

It exists to progress the positive contribution made by the spa and salon industry to UK health, social and economic wellbeing, and to drive continuous improvement in quality training, inclusiveness, high standards and professionalism at all levels within the industry. Simply put, its aim is to get more people, into more spas, more often.
