VOYA Organic Beauty, leading global luxury and sustainable lifestyle brand is pleased to announce a new partnership with Plastic Bank, launching January 2023 with the goal of stopping the equivalent of 2 million plastic bottles from entering the ocean.
A COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
VOYA offers a revolutionary range of results-driven seaweed-based facial and body products, using extracts from seaweed that VOYA sustainably hand-harvest on the west coast of Ireland. With a rich heritage in seaweed bathing, a tradition that is over 300 years old, VOYA creates a range of organic skincare products and spa treatments that are sustainable yet effective.
Since the brand’s inception in 2006, founders Mark and Kira Walton have fostered the belief that “There Must Be A Better Way”, a mission that runs through VOYA’s employees, products, business operations and partnerships, as VOYA continuously seek to improve their eco-efforts and sustainability.
VOYA’s latest partnership with Plastic Bank is a great addition to their environmentally friendly practices and partnerships which include initiatives from sustainable seaweed harvesting and packaging, to existing partnerships with the Soil Association, World Land Trust and Seal Rescue Ireland.
This January VOYA will partner with Plastic Bank, supporting their mission to stop plastic before it enters the ocean. The equivalent of one garbage truck full of plastic enters the ocean every minute, and by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish*.
ABOUT PLASTIC BANK
Plastic Bank is a social enterprise working to stop plastic from entering the ocean. Plastic Bank has ethical plastic collection branches within 50 kilometres of coastlines and waterways. The collection community members gather plastic waste directly from local beaches, riverbanks, neighbourhoods, and even households. Plastic Bank currently operates in Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, and the Philippines, working towards franchise-based expansion in Cameroon and Thailand.
As well as environmental impact, Plastic Bank supports social change by empowering communities in vulnerable coastal areas with high rates of plastic pollution and poverty. Collected plastic is reprocessed through partner processors and is reborn as Social Plastic® feedstock, which is used in the manufacturing of products and packaging, helping to give new life old plastic.
VOYA PLEDGES
VOYA are proud to have made several commitments as of part their Ocean Steward partnership with Plastic Bank. Over the next two years, VOYA pledges to stop the equivalent of over 2 million single-use plastic bottles from entering the ocean in collaboration with Plastic Bank. This is equivalent to over 45,000 kg of plastic and means for every VOYA product sold, VOYA will help to prevent 3 plastic bottles from entering the ocean.
