Wellness for Cancer accreditation for Bannatyne Group

Wellness for Cancer accreditation for Bannatyne Group

Health club operator the Bannatyne Group, which has 37 spas across the UK, has introduced specialist training for its spa therapists, so they can offer a programme of treatments for clients living with cancer.

Training was conducted by Wellness for Cancer, a cancer-focused training organisation for the spa industry. Therapists are given an insight into what clients with the illness may be going through, both physically and emotionally.

Karen Wilkinson, group head of spa at Bannatyne, says: ‘We’re delighted to be able to offer safe, relaxing treatments for clients who are living with cancer. The Wellness for Cancer training gives our therapists a greater insight into the mental and physical condition of clients with cancer, to allow us to take our spas to the next level and help clients approach their recovery from a more holistic angle.’

Julie Bach, executive director of Wellness for Cancer, says: ‘A person is a human being first, they’re not defined by their disease or condition. We know that individuals with cancer want to use spas in the UK, but many are being turned away because of a lack of knowledge. Bannatyne Spas is our largest individual UK client and will showcase what is possible when we set our minds on our clients’ needs.’

Manchester’s luxury city centre spa, The Spa at the Midland, has also partnered with Wellness for Cancer this month – making it the first spa in Manchester to receive the training.
