Wilderness Safaris opens new spa

Wilderness Safari’s Jao Camp, in the north-western Okavango Delta in Botswana, has re-opened after a complete reinvention, and now includes a new spa.

Jao’s spa is tucked away beneath palm trees and offers two new circular treatment rooms finished with saligna-laminated beams, rosewood-clad ceilings and rosewood floors. The treatment rooms are surrounded by tranquil water ponds.

There is also a fully-equipped gym and a swimming pool, which has a nest-like canopy pavilion for dappled shade and looks out over the floodplain.

Co-owner of the Jao Reserve, Cathy Kays, says: “Visiting Jao is therapy in itself, given its tranquil wilderness location in the heart of this World Heritage Site. However, a treatment in our new spa is bound to further inspire our guests to fully appreciate Jao’s extraordinary holistic offering, which seamlessly reflects the health of the Delta’s ecosystem. We have taken great care to create an extraordinary space that not only evokes a sense of calm but brings nature inside.”

The upgraded wellness area also includes a nail bar in reception, allowing guests to enjoy manicures and pedicures in a more social setting, while appreciating the fabulous views.

In line with Wilderness Safaris’ commitment to operating with a light eco-footprint, Jao is 100% solar powered, with a new power plant that works on one of the biggest Victron inverter systems in the world, and the largest lithium-ion battery bank in southern Africa.
