Women confused about their wellness

Women confused about their wellness

British women are in a state of confusion when it comes to their health and wellbeing, according to a new study by E45.

It’s time for spas to tell it like it is and give clients the facts about their products, their treatments, and wellness in general – British woman are crying out for it.

Researchers took an in-depth look at how women in the UK feel about the health messages and the advice they receive. Results reveal many feel bombarded on a daily basis, with conflicting health and wellness advice leaving 81 per cent saying they’re ‘baffled’.

Whether a glass of wine is bad for you, how much water to drink, whether a massage is acceptable if you’re pregnant, whether to eat a low carb or a low-fat diet, what mindfulness can do for your wellness and if anti-ageing creams really work emerged among a list of things modern women find the most confusing.

Almost two-thirds (63 per cent) confessed they’re unsure about the right thing to do in regard to their health, wellbeing and body – with 88 per cent saying they just wish someone would just give it to them straight.

Worryingly, two-thirds of women say they feel pressure to look and feel their best, and a quarter confess that they’re not happy in their own skin and would like to look and feel better. But many seek simplicity – 60 per cent say they want their beauty regimes to be as straightforward as possible and 39 percent of the 1,500 women polled admit they’re constantly switching from one fad to another in the endless quest for the elusive ‘wellbeing’.

The research was commissioned by skincare brand E45. Kate Sweeney, Category Marketing Manager at E45, says: ‘The research shows that UK women feel bombarded with lots of conflicting and, at times, downright confusing pieces of advice and information every day. Four in ten of those polled say they feel pressured to spend more time and money on their beauty regime to keep up with their friends and colleagues – isn’t it time we changed that?’
