Country house hotel and Spa, Gisborough Hall, has released plans for a multi-million pound Woodland Spa.

On the edge of the North York Moors, the new Woodland Spa at Grade II listed Gisborough Hall will be designed by Harris McCormack Architects and is due to open towards the end of 2018.

Replacing the Revival Zone, the spa will offer an 18-metre indoor pool, 3m outdoor hydro pool, numerous heat experiences and nine treatment rooms. A fitness suite with floor-to-ceiling glass walls will give views of the forest, alongside a studio and physio rooms.

The spa will stand on over two hectares, around 100 metres from the hotel, with a walkway so hotel guests don’t need to go outside.

Kim Yardley, general manager of Gisborough Hall, says: “Our Revival Zone spa is just not big enough for the demand that we have. What’s more, we’re now in a position to build on our current offer and make both Gisborough Hall and the surrounding area an international destination for business and leisure.

“Our woodland spa setting will overlook the beautiful Cleveland Hills in a secluded yet easily reached location. Our aim is to offer our local community and guests from all over the world a different spa experience and we hope to be open by next Christmas. It will be amongst the finest spas in Europe. The Chaloner family has been here for hundreds of years, and now it’s investing for generations to come.”

The 15-year-old family-owned hotel became fully independent for the first time since opening earlier this year. Built in 1857, Gisborough Hall was restored in 2002 by the Gisborough family, when it opened as a hotel.
